About us
Our aim is to advance understanding of the complex challenges regarding the sustainability of today’s agri-food systems, and to identify transformation pathways which respond to these challenges. Our work follows a systems thinking approach that reflects the interconnectedness of the issues at stake. We aim to reveal the contested and dynamic values and interests of different societal groups and to provide a platform for fostering exchange, mutual understanding and conflict resolution.
In our research we strive for contributions that comply with high-level scientific standards, which at the same time speak to actors in practice and policy. Our work is rooted in the social sciences, but connects to other disciplines and non-scientists in order to open up spaces for the pluralistic co-creation of knowledge.
We consider teaching as essential for achieving a transformation of agri-food systems towards sustainability, as our students are the next generation of decision makers in the field. We therefore encourage their critical and solutions-oriented engagement through a range of interactive teaching formats.
