Birgit Hoinle published together with Alena Birnbaum (University of Kassel) and Petra Lütke (University of Münster) a Special Issue on “Perspectives on Food in the Sustainable City” in the Journal Urban Planning. The Special Issue offers insights in different case studies in various parts of the world, such as community gardens in New Zealand, Community Food System report cards in Canada, Community Supported Agriculture in Brazil, organic consumption in Iran or Foodsharing-Apps in Eastern Europe. The 14 peer-reviewed articles used diverse methodological entries (discourse analysis, focused ethnography, ArcGIS,..) to analyze the role of cities for sustainable food system transitions.
