Dr. Birgit Hoinle
Senior research associate
Postdoc Researcher
Birgit Hoinle is Postdoc Researcher at the Institute of Social Sciences in Agriculture, Department of Societal Transition and Agriculture, at the University of Hohenheim. She holds a Ph.D. in Integrative Geography by the University of Hamburg, funded by a scholarship by Heinrich-Böll-Foundation. In her dissertation project she analyzed processes of spatial empowerment in the urban and peri-urban agriculture in Colombia and conducted 18 months of field research with agroecological networks and Community Supported Agriculture projects in Bogotá. Her current research addresses Food Justice, sustainable public food procurement and the role of local food initiatives. She is engaged as spokesperson in the local Food Policy Council Ernährungsrat Region Tübingen-Rottenburg e.V.
