Lilian Beck promoviert derzeit am Institut für Sozialwissenschaften des Agrarbereichs der Universität Hohenheim zum Thema "Interorganisationale Lernaktivitäten zur Förderung der Verbreitung von Agroforstwirtschaft" und führt in Zusammenarbeit mit dem World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF) eine transdisziplinäre Aktionsforschung mit Kleinbauern in Kambodscha durch, für die sie ein Stipendium der ATSAF Academy erhielt. Im Rahmen des PhD-Programms gab sie Kurse für lokale landwirtschaftliche Berater in Farmer Field School Fazilitation und entwickelte Bildungsmaterialien für das Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL). Zuvor war Lilian als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Universität Kassel tätig, wo sie das Postdoc-Stipendienprogramm der VW Stiftung koordinierte, partizipative Video- und Radioproduktionen mit verschiedenen Akteuren in agrarökologischen Projekten auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent durchführte und bei der Entwicklung eines Doktorandenprogramms zur transdisziplinären Forschung mit AkademikerInnen aus Russland und Kazachstan mitwirkte. Außerdem arbeitete sie als internationale Feldspezialistin für die Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Kambodscha, wo sie partizipative Prozesse zur Identifizierung klimafreundlicher landwirtschaftlicher Ansätze förderte und die Durchführung von Farmer Field Schools koordinierte. Lilian führte auch Aktionsforschung zu alternativen Beratungsdiensten für das International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) durch und untersuchte im Rahmen ihrer Masterarbeit bei CIAT in Kambodscha die Barrieren für die Einführung agrarökologischer Ansätze. Für ihre Bachelorarbeit schließlich führte sie eine anthropologische Feldstudie in einer Bio-Baumwollkooperative in Kirgisistan durch.
Organisationsübergreifende Lernaktivitäten zur Förderung der Verbreitung von Agroforstwirtschaft
Lilian Beck hat ein besonderes Interesse an dem "farmer first"-Ansatz, transdisziplinärer Aktionsforschung und partizipativer Videoproduktion. Ihre Studienschwerpunkte sind Agroecology, Agroforstwirtschaft, indigene Kulturen, Agro-Ethnologie, landwirtschaftliche Kommunikation und Beratung.
